Community Food Bank serving Folsom, El Dorado Hills, and Granite Bay

FROM LISA'S HEART

A New Home for Our Community

Our food bank has outgrown its current facility. What began serving 200 families monthly now reaches 1395 households monthly—and we’re turning away food donations due to lack of storage space; that’s not acceptable. The new facility will change everything. With 10,000 square feet and expanded cold storage, we’ll double our capacity to serve 1200+ families weekly and expand our programs to hungry people currently on a waiting list.

Your investment builds more than walls—it constructs hope. Maria came to the food bank yesterday and told us:

“I haven’t eaten in two days. I’m not sharing that to ask for more food, I’m just so grateful for your help and that I’m not alone.”

It’s getting harder for our food insecure neighbors to make ends meet. Before the pandemic we were serving 20,000 individuals a year; now we are serving over 35,000. With recent changes locally and nationally, those numbers will increase.

On July 16, 2025, we launched the “Building Hope” Capital Campaign to raise $3.1 million. We’re 50% there, but need every donor, volunteer, and community champion to cross the finish line. We aren’t just inviting you into this venture. We cannot do it without you. Together, we’re building a future where no neighbor fears going hungry.

The future is in our hands. Let’s build it together—one community member at at time.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

A Former Guest's Gift of Hope

Monique, a former guest of the food bank, stopped by, eager to tell her story.

Monique first came to the food bank several years ago when her world was turned upside down. Her husband received an unexpected and serious health diagnosis which led to the sudden loss of his job. For the first time, Monique was facing anxiety and uncertainty on being able to pay their bills. During those months that she came for food, she found not only nutritious food, but dignity and compassion.

Monique’s husband eventually healed, regained employment and they are now thriving. “We are in a stable place and so I wanted to come in to make a donation and give back to this place that helped my family in need during one of the most frightening times in our lives. Thank you for what you do.”

BUILDING COMMUNITY

A COMMUNITY COMES TOGETHER FOR A GROWING NEED

Our Capital Campaign Kickoff wasn’t just the start of a fundraising effort—it was a powerful moment of building hope together. From local restaurant owners who donated food to elected officials, business leaders, board members, staff, volunteers and donors who attended to stand in support of this vision, excitement permeated every corner of the venue.

Board member Samantha Davidson and her team of volunteers worked tirelessly to provide a space for community members and donors to learn about the vision for a new food bank and be inspired to join the campaign and give toward something bigger than themselves.

We can’t wait for the entire community to join this noble goal to lay a foundation of hope for every family in need who walks through our new food bank doors in the years to come.

FIGHTING HUNGER

A Story Of Hope and New Beginnings

Behind every bag of food that is served, there is a story. Often times, we are helping people in the middle of their story. Daniel is only 27, but his life has already been marked by deep hardship. One of many children, he grew up in a home shaped by addiction and abandonment. Unable to tolerate the abuse, he left home at a young age to navigate life on his own.

When Daniel first came to us, he was just looking for food—but what he found was community, encouragement, and a sense of connection he’d never experienced before. Daniel got a hand up, landed a job and is working toward stable housing. Every time Daniel visits the food bank, he inspires others with his warmth, resilience and genuine interest in our guests and volunteers. His story is far from over with exciting chapters ahead.

The mission of the food bank isn’t just putting food on the table of our hungry neighbors; it’s giving dignity and hope for a better tomorrow.
